Paint decontamination is essential for keeping your vehicle’s finish in top condition. It removes stubborn contaminants that regular washing can’t, creating a clean surface for polishing, sealing, or coating.

Chemical Paint Decontamination

Chemical paint decontamination removes stubborn contaminants that washing alone can’t touch. It targets things like tar, road grime, and iron particles from brake dust. A special cleaning solution is applied to the paint and left to work for a short time. It safely dissolves the contaminants so they can be rinsed away. This process leaves the surface cleaner and ready for the next step.

Mechanical Paint Decontamination

Mechanical paint decontamination is all about physically removing any remaining bonded contaminants. A clay bar or similar tool is gently moved across the paint. This grabs and lifts anything still stuck to the surface. It makes the paint feel smooth to the touch. A clean, contaminant-free surface is important before polishing or sealing.

Legacy Exterior Detailing FAQs

  • What does your exterior detailing service include?

Our exterior detailing service focuses on thoroughly cleaning and enhancing the look of your vehicle’s exterior. This can include a gentle hand wash, cleaning of grills, badges, and door jambs, deep cleaning and dressing of wheels and tires, and the application of a high-gloss paint sealant. We pay close attention to the smallest details to ensure every part of your vehicle’s exterior looks its best.

  • How long does exterior detailing take?

The time required depends on the size of your vehicle and its current condition. On average, most exterior detailing jobs take between 2 to 4 hours. We make sure not to rush because our goal is to deliver a thorough, high-quality result that meets or exceeds your expectations.

  • How long will the results last?

With proper maintenance, the results of our exterior detailing can last several weeks to a few months. We have two sealants we use depending on the package chosen. One is 2-3 months of protection, while the other can be up to 6.

  • Is exterior detailing safe for all paint types?

Yes, we use products and techniques that are safe for all factory and custom paint finishes. Our cleaning methods are designed to be gentle yet effective, helping maintain the integrity of your vehicle’s paint. We also use high-quality sealants that work well on different paint types.

  • How often should I get my vehicle’s exterior detailed?

Most customers benefit from having their vehicle’s exterior detailed every 3 to 4 months. This keeps the paint looking vibrant and helps remove contaminants before they can cause long-term damage. Seasonal detailing is also a great way to prepare your vehicle for changing weather conditions.

Keeping your vehicle looking its best doesn’t stop after a professional exterior detail. With the right care, you can extend the shine and protection.

  • Wash Your Vehicle Regularly

Regular washing helps maintain the look and protection from your recent detail. Use a pH-balanced car shampoo and a soft microfiber mitt to avoid adding new scratches or swirl marks. Aim to wash your vehicle every one to two weeks to keep dirt and contaminants from building up.

  • Avoid Harsh Chemicals

Strong cleaning agents or household detergents can strip away the protective sealant applied during your detail. Stick with automotive-specific products that are safe for your vehicle’s finish. This helps preserve the shine and protection for as long as possible.

  • Dry Your Vehicle Properly

After washing, use a clean microfiber towel to dry the surface completely. Letting water air-dry can leave behind spots and streaks that dull the finish. A gentle drying method helps keep your paint looking glossy.

  • Park in Covered or Shaded Areas

Prolonged sun exposure can fade paint and reduce the lifespan of your sealant. Whenever possible, park in a garage or shaded area to protect your vehicle’s exterior. This also helps minimize damage from environmental factors like bird droppings or tree sap.

  • Schedule Regular Detailing Appointments

Routine exterior detailing every few months ensures your vehicle stays in top condition. Each session refreshes the shine and protection while addressing any new contaminants. Consistent care will keep your car looking its best year-round.
